November 3, 2017: To celebrate Fall the Sarasota Film Festival invites you to another in their series of Free Moonlight Movies, a screening of “Labyrinth” on Siesta Key Beach. Take advantage of Florida’s beautiful weather by watching a movie on the beach! This family friendly film is free and open to the public. November 4, 2017: It’s the annual “Sandblast” day-long Sand-sculpting competition taking place along the shores of Manatee Public Beach in support of Keep Manatee Beautiful, a group dedicated to litter prevention, beautification and environmental improvement throughout the county. In addition to showcasing the local talent, Sandblast also offers free clinics taught by master sculptors Learn the “Tips, Tricks and Techniques” of sand sculpture at free clinics taught by master sculptors Team Sandtastic from 5 to 6 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, while the competition is 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. November 4, 2017: It’s the “Fish For United Way” tournament benefiting the region’s United Ways and hosted by Florida Power and Light Company. Anglers can cast their lines in the 4,000-acre cooling reservoir, also known as Lake Parrish, that serves the FPL Plant. Home to bass, crappies and catfish, the reservoir is a delight for anglers, who pay $250 per boat (includes 3 anglers, $50 each additional angler), to participate in one of the open tournament days. The reservoir is normally closed to the public, but opens three times a year for the fishing tournament which benefits the surrounding communities. Top prize: $1,000. Tournament is limited to 50 boats. All of the money raised is shared by United Way of South Sarasota County, United Way Suncoast and United Way of Manatee County. November 4, 2017: It’s time for a brew! The Beer, Boats and Bacon Fest will feature over 60+ craft beers to sample with the General Admission & VIP Ticket. Throughout the event there will be various bacon bites and samples from local restaurants and caterers plus more food available for purchase from over 15 vendors. The festival will have live music, a family friendly section, craft beers sampling and more. November 4 – 5, 2017: It’s the 30th Annual Venice Art Fest, originally begun in 1987. Another of the numerous open air festivals on my November Sarasota Events Calendar, this outdoor event is held in Historic Downtown Venice, on west Venice Avenue. With free admission for all, the Fest takes place from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. each day and features the works of over 150 artists. The weather in Sarasota and along the gulf coast is usually perfect for the Venice Art Fest.
November 5, 2017: It’s the 43rd annual Sarasota Manatee Bicycle Club’s premier southwest Florida event: Gulf Coast Cycle-fest! Join with other cyclists from around the country as they enjoy new routes through Manatee County. Not a race, it’s designed to be a whole family event with routes of 100, 62, 35, or 20 mile distances. Number of riders is limited. Get in early. Event time: 6:30 a.m.- 3 p.m. Fees: Register by October 1, $45.00. Register after October 1, $50.00. Event location: Main Street, Lakewood Ranch.
