Charlotte County Gay Pride Weekend:

Charlotte County Pride, Inc. is excited to announce Charlotte County Pride WEEKEND from noon-6, May 9th and 10th! Admission is a donation of a food or hygiene item for CHAPS. CHAPS will be on hand to collect donated items.
It all begins at PG Waterfront with a march along the Harborwalk at 11 am. Participants are asked to gather on the Gilchrist side of the Hotel to sign in and begin the march there. The route will continue along the beautiful Charlotte Harbor and end at Laishley Park.
Charlotte County Pride Fest begins at noon with singer Phil Garris, a dynamic country singer from the Tampa area and Alyssa Lemay as your emcee. The Opening Ceremony takes place at 1:00 with government
officials from Charlotte County, North Port, and Punta Gorda. We are honored to have Arlene Goldberg as the Keynote speaker. She is the first member of the LGBT community to be recognized by the state of Florida for her same-sex marriage. Spikey Van Dikey takes the stage promptly after the opening ceremony. Zombie University then brings their dynamic music to the stage. Siren, a solo artist, brings her raspy voice to the front and center with Nexxlevel closing the day with their R & B tones. In between acts we have Spin the Groove keeping the energy going and Drag acts from Clyo, Fairyana Belle, and Lisa Renee. There will be food and drink vendors, merchandise and service vendors, and stop by the Pride Booth for your Pride-oriented souvenirs! There will be a raffle for Disney tickets, a trip for two on the Key West Express and a 1 night stay at Alexander’s guest house, and many more amazing prizes.
The day does not end there! It resumes at the Official After Party at PG Waterfront beginning at 6 pm. The party is free to hotel guests which are offering special rates for Charlotte County Pride. General admission is $5. Hurricane Charley’s is offering food and drink service.
Oh, the weekend does not end there! Sunday, Mother’s Day, we open Laishley Park again with a wedding in the park. The beautiful Laishley Park offers the perfect backdrop along with The Rainbow Knot providing the frame. Couples who are interested in participating in the ceremony need to pre-register at www.charlottecountypridefl.org. Application can be made for the license from the county with a 3 day waiting period and a cost of about $100. Dr. Phil Carracher is offering a counseling course for participants on May 3rd to reduce the 3 day wait and the cost to $61. End the perfect day at PG Waterfront which is offering a special rate for the weekend.

The annual Venice “Shark’s Tooth Festival will be held this weekend (April 10 – 12, 2015) @ the Venice Airport, 610 E. Airport Ave, Venice (Admission $3.00. Free for Children under 12)
